We are pleased to announce that in February 2014, we will kick-off the inaugural Charleston STEM Festival to celebrate science, technology, engineering and math in the Lowcountry. The Charleston STEM Festival will bring awareness of the wonders of hands-on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to the Lowcountry community.
The festival kick-off on Saturday, February 8, 2014 is a one-day (10am-3pm) interactive event at Liberty Square that will highlight the many STEM education initiatives in the area. Children and families will explore exhibits and interactive demonstrations hosted by the collaborating organizations as well as local industries, non-profits and educational institutions from across the Lowcountry.
The kick-off event will also feature a What is STEM? Art Competition open to residents of the Lowcountry. Throughout the two weeks following the kick-off event, collaborating partners will host various STEM events such as open houses, symposiums and competitions.
We need the support of the community to make this a successful event and to pave the way for more events like this in the future. How can you help? Tell your friends and family about the event and come on out to the Feb 8 kick-off and other festival events throughout the month. If you’re a STEM educator or business, volunteer to host an exhibit or workshop at our kick-off event or at your location. Like our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/charleston.stem.festival). Submit an entry to our art contest. There are so many ways to share in the excitement of celebrating STEM in the Lowcountry!
Thank you for your support – we look forward to an exciting and education event!
