CSU Students Host Math/Reading/Tech Nights at Local Schools

Charleston Southern University elementary education students are making math fun and interesting for students in the Lowcountry. CSU students facilitate engaging, hands-on math activities for the children to explore concepts such as the meaning of area, measuring with non-standard and standard units, patterns, the characteristics of 2-D shapes and 3-D figures, and the meaning of operations with numbers.

The students in the CSU elementary math methods course, taught by Dr. Karen Fonkert, and the elementary reading methods course, taught by Dr. Robin Franklin, also facilitate a Math/Reading/Technology Night with hands-on math activities integrated with children’s literature and ipad activities integrating math and reading.
